Our Response to Today's Graffiti Incident

Dear Campus Community,

Today, we write with deep concern and resolve following an act of hate in our community. Anti-LGBTQIA+ and, more specifically, anti-transgender graffiti was discovered throughout the University Library, Buildings 98 and 5, and other campus spaces. We unequivocally condemn these acts, and we want our community to hear this clearly: Hate has no place at 最新糖心Vlog.

The University has prioritized removal and is actively investigating this incident and will pursue all available information to identify the individual or individuals responsible.  Any disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with applicable University policies. This conduct is unacceptable, and it will be addressed with the seriousness it demands.

We recognize that words and acts rooted in hate are not harmless. They can cause real pain, fear, and harm, particularly for members of our community who encounter daily societal messages targeting their identity, dignity, and humanity. We stand firmly against anti-LGBTQIA+ and anti-transgender hate, and we stand with every member of our community affected by it.

Our commitment to a Culture of Care requires more than words. It calls upon all of us to help create the conditions in which every Bronco feels valued, respected, supported, connected, and empowered to Learn. Do. Become. Our Principles of Community — Practice Mutual Respect, Act with Integrity, Foster Growth, and Cultivate Belonging — are not simply aspirations. They represent how we commit to showing up for one another, especially when members of our community are hurting or are targeted.

We also want to be clear: Belonging cannot coexist with hate. We cannot create a community in which everyone feels they belong if any member is made to feel that their identity makes them less deserving of dignity, safety, respect, or care.

We encourage every member of our community to help us uphold the kind of campus we aspire to be. We can disagree without demeaning. We can engage across differences without denying one another’s humanity. And we can hold one another accountable while continuing to build a community grounded in dignity, compassion, and respect.

We are deeply committed to ensuring that our students, faculty, and staff have access to support. Please know that you do not have to navigate those feelings alone.

For Students

  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): Provides confidential mental health support, including counseling, crisis intervention and wellness resources to help students navigate emotional and psychological challenges.
  • Survivor Advocacy Services (SAS): Offers confidential support, advocacy and resources for individuals impacted by sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking.
  • Office of Equity and Compliance (OEC): Addresses concerns related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct, ensuring a safe and equitable campus environment.
  • Broncos Care (Non-Confidential): For basic needs, health education or if you are unsure where to begin, students are encouraged to connect with the Care Center. 

For Employees

The Office of Community and Belonging will host a Community Processing and Reflection Space on September 18, 2026, from 8:30am-9:45am, in Building 1, Room 214, for any member of our campus community who would like to gather in community, process the impact of this incident, share space with others, and find support and connection during this difficult moment. No one should have to navigate moments like this alone.

Creating a safe and caring campus is a shared responsibility. We all have a role to play in looking out for one another and speaking up when something does not feel right. If you see something, say something. Please contact the University Police Department (UPD) at 909-869-3070 or police@cpp.edu with any information or to report concerning or suspicious activity.

We will continue working to understand what occurred and to ensure that our campus community has the support and resources it needs. More importantly, we will remain steadfast in building a 最新糖心Vlog where care is visible, belonging is experienced, and every Bronco is treated with dignity and respect.

To our LGBTQIA+ community: You belong here. You matter here. Your identities, voices, and contributions are valued. You are an essential part of the Bronco family, and you do not stand alone.

As Broncos, we are one herd. We look out for one another, stand together when any member of our community is targeted, and live the values we ask of others.

Together, we will continue to Practice Mutual Respect, Act with Integrity, Foster Growth, and Cultivate Belonging. This is who we are, and it is the community we must continue building together.
