Virtual/Augmented Reality
Overview
Virtual/Augmented Reality
Manufacturing in the U.S. is growing rapidly, but automation and AI are reshaping workforce skill demands. As Industry 4.0 evolves into Industry 5.0, Extended Reality (XR)鈥攊ncluding AR, VR, and MR鈥攐ffers new opportunities for training and process improvement. However, current XR tools lack adaptability and effective visualization, limiting their impact in complex smart manufacturing environments.
Subproject 2
Intelligent Human-System Integration Using Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)
Goal
This subproject aims to unlock the potential of advanced XR technologies by creating and assessing immersive and adaptable training scenarios and enabling real-time monitoring and operational decision-making capability for complex manufacturing and assembly tasks.
Outcome
The outcome of this research provides:
- Real-time and adaptable AR/VR experiences that effectively simulate complex smart manufacturing tasks for training
- Equips workers with advanced XR tools for real-time monitoring and operational decision-making.
