Graduate Requirements

CSU Eligibility

Graduate students must meet the minimum California State University eligibility requirements listed below as the first step in being considered for admission.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Have completed an acceptable US four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited or internationally recognized institution   
  • Are in good academic standing at the last college of university attended    
  • Have attained a grade-point average of at least 2.5 cumulative or in the last 60 semester (90 quarter units) attempted    
  • Satisfactorily meet the professional, personal, scholastic, and other standards for graduate studies, which may include qualifying examinations

Some graduate programs may require additional, recommended, or preferred coursework, supplemental application, or standardized test requirements (GMAT and/or GRE). Graduate admission process is two-fold. The Office of Admissions reviews for minimum CSU eligibility, with the graduate department making final admission decisions based on additional criteria specific to their program. From there, the graduate department will make the final admission decision.

Final college transcripts will be due to 最新糖心Vlog as indicted on your Bronco Direct account "to-do" list.

All graduate and postbaccalaureate applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose preparatory education at the postsecondary level was principally in a language other than English, must demonstrate competence in English.

 *Effective January 21, 2026, TOEFL introduced an updated score scale (1–6 in 0.5 increments).
Applicants who took the TOEFL on or after January 21, 2026 must meet the new minimum score (4.5).
Applicants who took the TOEFL before January 21, 2026 may continue to use the previous minimum score (80) for up to two years.

English Proficiency Waivers:

  • If you possess a bachelor’s degree from a postsecondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction
  • If you have studied at least 3 years of full‐time enrollment at a college/university where English is the principal language of instruction
  • If you have completed and passed a level six from the Cal Poly English Language Institute (CPELI). This waiver is only applicable for graduate students 
  • Countries where English is the national language include: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, Canada (except Québec), Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, Scotland, South Africa, Trinidad, the United Kingdom, the United States, Virgin Islands and Wales
